When visiting Rovaniemi, you don't need to contact a safari company to book a reindeer sleigh ride - you can easily take one when you go to visit Santa at the Arctic Circle. Located in Santa’s backyard, Santa Claus Reindeer is run by a local Rovaniemi reindeer farming family and offers daily sleigh rides at Santas Village. They also offer northern lights reindeer safaris through nearby snow-covered forests and fields in the evenings.

Their sleighs are traditional, handmade wooden reindeer sleighs covered with warm reindeer skins and comfortably fit 2 adults and 2 small children. After your ride you are welcome to sit by the open fire pit on their property and experience a relaxed Lappish atmosphere. The northern lights reindeer safaris also stop at a fireplace where guests warm up and enjoy some hot food (sausages) and hot drink (Glögi, a Finnish Christmas drink). Besides sleigh rides, they will also be opening a Lappish restaurant in November/December, so visitors enjoying the daily rides at the Arctic Circle can also have a warm meal and drink before or after their rides.

Santa Claus Reindeer is located just behind Santa's Office at the Arctic Circle and you can get there by car or taxi, or by taking the Santa Bus from Rovaniemi city centre. You can learn more about their sleigh rides as well as some interesting facts about reindeer by visiting the Santa Claus Reindeer website.
